Winter Feeding

Post by pat-the-pet » Tue Jan 17, 2017 11:15 pm

Thank you so much for letting me join. We have adopted 3 adult terrapins (abandoned outside our pet shop in July 2016) and they live in our garden pond.
Should we offer them food whilst they are hibernating? If so what and how often?
Thankyou.

Hello and welcome to the site and forum! :)

Try and make sure there are plenty of oxygenating plants which will provide food when it's a little warmer as well as much needed oxygen and nutrient removal to ensure water quality, but otherwise they are unlikely to eat anything at all until it's regularly staying above 10C throughout the day :)

Apologies for the slow response!

Thanks for your help Neil. I'm getting the hang of the forum now. ~blsh
