He's here

Post by bristolchick » Wed May 09, 2012 5:14 pm

Picked my turtle up today, looks like I need to listen more when people are talking to me ~blsh , it seems I was told he is similar looking to a snake neck but he is actually an African Helmeted Turtle.

He is currently swimming around his tank exploring his new home.

I've decided to call him Bernard :).

Just fed him a cricket - he loved it.

Nice turtle and doesn't get as big as a snake neck, but still needs warmer water being a more tropical species. I'm sure one of the experienced AHT keepers (Jo or Ferry) will be along soon, else check out Ferry's site at http://www.pelomedusa.com/ ~thmbu

That's not Ferry's site, it's Josh's... but still a great one! :)

I forget which one belongs to who, Ferry's is Pelusios then, isn't it?

Thanks Neil. We already found that site and had a good read. We had a heater from when we had tropical fish so have that going in there for him. He's fascinating to watch.
