My Female Yellow Bellied Slider chasing my Male Red Eared Terrapin

Post by FiLtHeE_GoTh » Sun Jul 05, 2015 1:48 pm

Hey there guys and gals! ~fn-hdbng

I'm just wondering if it is normal for a Female Yellow Bellied Slider to chase and bite my Male Red Eared Terrapin? She seems to favour biting him on teh back of his shell, although she will go for his head whenever teh opportunity is presented.

We have had them both for a couple of months and they haven't done this much or to such extent before.

Also we think that she may be either preparing for eggs and/or actually carrying them. They have done teh mating dance a couple of times.

Any advice or ideas would be greatly appreciated. ~lgh-smil

Are you sure the sexes are correct? If the space is too small, water quality is poor, or temps are high then this can increase aggression, but it's unusual for a female to attack a male without provocation.
