I need help on finding out what breed/sex my terrapins are

Post by JamesMillis » Wed May 22, 2013 8:34 pm

Hi Everyone,
My Name is James and i am new to this forum as well as owning Terrapins.
About 2 months ago i took ownership/care of two Terrapins from a friend who due to certain circumstances was no longer able to care for the Terrapins.
When i received ownership they had been out of a tank for a couple of weeks in a small amount of water do to there tank smashing. Since then i have (with a little help)
built them an entirely new set-up with heat and UV lamps and pump and basking area. Since they have been re-housed they seem to be happy as larry.
But what i have been wondering is what exact species they are as well as what sex they are. This is partially through curiosity but also due to the fact that they have both displayed examples
of "Fanning", when they wave their front legs above their heads.
I have taken some pictures of their bellies as well as their shells and if anyone can help i would be most grateful!

Thankyou!

Two females, one slider (mostly YBS) and one cooter (unsure without a better shot of head markings because I'm tired and my eyes aren't working properly ~cnf-blink

Spring is in the air James and turtles just love to fan each other. It is mating behaviour but may also be a dominance thing, trying to find out who's boss. Just keep an eye on them to make sure there's no aggression but I'm sure they'll be fine ~trttle
