Re: Hi

Indeed. He is unlikely to want or need company especially not with the turtle vs tank size. Depending on how much you feed each time, I believe it is the accepted wisdom that feeding 3 times a week is a more natural routine. The suggested volume is about the size of the turtles head. Have a little s...

Re: Hi

Hi Richard. You have responded to a very old post here.

I'm glad you've had your turtle for 8 years and he appears to be healthy. Maybe now is the time to have a read around on the internet, books and magazines and assess how much you should be feeding for slow, healthy growth.

Good luck,

Michael

Re: Circulation Pumps

I have a similar problem. I leave it to syphoning when I change water. I'm guess I'm trading off cleaning the filter more by chasing the 'debris' around with my syphon hose. I think I prefer it that way so I know that most of the waste I remove from the system entirely.

Re: New Filter

My Fluval starting leaking for a while after restarting the tank. I think this was from the main seal where the top of the canister is removed. The web suggests regular cleaning and lubing can avoid this problem but if other brands don't do it I might try a different make when the time eventually co...

Re: New Filter

A decent brand name external filter. Take out the active carbon bags and replace with sponge or bio media. No filter will keep a tank physically clean but a filter with a large amount of media will set itself up to break down harmful substances to less harmful. Big water changes will then keep the w...

Re: Need Help!

Well done for posting. Please start by looking here http://www.terrapin-info.co.uk/caresheets.php which are the caresheets on the site. Then if you still have questions you'll need to let us know the basics of what you've been told and what type of terrapins (turtle) you have. A photo would help. Mi...

Re: New Reeves Turtle Tank set up

As you know you'll need to get something on that ramp sooner rather than later. It's more of a flume ride at the moment :-)
